How Does Trifecta Therapy Work?
“It’s all there. Trifecta Therapy delivers exactly what your skin needs.”
Trifecta Therapy is an innovative procedure that uses three cutting edge treatments together to maximize their ability to transform your skin. Individually, microneedling, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell Growth Factor Serum are effective skin repair and regeneration treatments. When combined together, each of these treatments enhance each other, working together to provide a far better result than any individual treatment alone. This combination of treatments is truly a synergy where the whole of the treatment is greater than the sum of its parts.
The unique features of these regenerative treatments working together is at the heart of how Trifecta Therapy works: Microneedling is a procedure that creates fine micro-channels in the skin, stimulating the body’s regenerative response. The regenerative response is also dependent on growth factors and stem cells to rebuild the skin. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell Growth Factor Serum deliver exactly the growth factors and stem cells this skin regeneration is dependent on, optimizing the results. In addition to stimulating the effects of skin regeneration by microneedling, both PRP and Stem Cell Growth Factors have their own unique anti-aging and stimulatory effects.
Trifecta Therapy: The Components
Trifecta Therapy works by harnessing the beneficial features of revolutionary skin treatments, and bringing them together to maximize the repair and regeneration. The process involves the use of a Microneedling Pen, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), and Stem Cell Growth Factor Serum all in the same session.
For Trifecta Therapy, Microneedling is performed with a device called a “Microneedling Pen.” The Microneedling pen is a complex, precision instrument that creates micro-channels in the dermis (deep layer) of the skin to carefully selected depths, based on the specific needs of the patient.
The microneedling pen is used to perform “Medical Microneedling” to distinguish it from less effective shallow / superficial microneedling procedures done by aestheticians and other non-medical personnel, using devices that do not penetrate into the deeper layer of the skin and have results no better than a standard facial. Medical Microneedling is distinct and substantially more effective than the other shallow skin treatments. By law, Medical Microneedling is performed only by licensed medical professionals. Trifecta Therapy is performed only by properly trained and licensed medical professionals (only a doctor or nurse) who have extensive experience with the procedure.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) takes the richest components of your blood and uses them to regenerate your skin. Blood is a complex fluid enriched with vital components to help nourish and sustain life. The plasma is a portion of the blood that has stem cells, growth factors, proteins and nutrients that help support, revitalize and regenerate the skin. Plasma is mixed in with other cells and components of whole blood and travels throughout your bloodstream.
To isolate out the nutrient rich plasma for Trifecta Therapy, a small sample of your blood is drawn and placed into a centrifuge, which spins the blood at a very high rate, separating the different components of the blood. The plasma is then taken for use in Trifecta Therapy. After being spun, the plasma is concentrated and particularly rich in nutrients – which is why it’s called Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). Because this highly concentrated collection of plasma is so rich in regenerative proteins, stem cells and growth factors, it is perfectly suited to regenerate your skin as a part of Trifecta Therapy.
Stem Cell Growth Factor Serum
The process of skin repair and regeneration is a complex symphony involving the interplay of different cells and proteins from all over the body. Like a conductor in an orchestra coordinating individual musicians to create beautiful music, growth factors are small proteins that guide and stimulate different cells of the body to do their job in the complex process of skin regeneration.
For Trifecta Therapy, a special serum of growth factors derived from stem cells is used to help stimulate skin regeneration and repair. These stem cells growth factors enhance the body’s own response to enhance the quality of the regenerated skin. The effect of this Stem Cell Growth Factor Serum is seen across all ages, but is particularly useful as skin ages and the body naturally produces less of its own growth factors.
Trifecta Therapy is ideal for the treatment of mild wrinkles, dull skin, acne, acne scars, large pores and skin discoloration. There are very few situations where the treatment is not recommended. Patients on blood thinners are asked to stop the medication after approval of their prescribing physician. Therapy is delayed if there is an active skin infection. The broad range of conditions and candidates suited to Trifecta Therapy speaks to is safety.
Every Trifecta Therapy treatment course begins with a detailed skin evaluation by Dr. Gabbay. In this consultation, your skin is assessed for factors that will help guide the therapy. Such details as skin laxity (or looseness), thickness, color, wrinkling, texture and subtle medical details will be evaluated and used to customize the therapy. A thorough evaluation of your skin and areas of treatment will ensure that the appropriate treatment is offered to maximize your result and ensure the most rejuvenated skin.
The consultation is only the first step. Dr. Gabbay and his staff are closely involved throughout the entire course of treatment: from the consultation though the treatment itself and over the recovery and skin regeneration period. This close guidance and follow up ensure the results of Trifecta Therapy far exceed you expect.
Instructions Before Trifecta Therapy
- Please drink plenty of water on the day of your Trifecta Therapy treatment (before you come in). The better hydrated you are, the more Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) can be obtained from your blood, which will improve the final outcome of your procedure!
- Avoid Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, and any other blood thinner for 3 days before Trifecta Therapy.
- No alcohol the night before Trifecta Therapy.
- Do not exercise right before Trifecta Therapy.
- Do not use lotions, makeup or other topical products on your face on the day of your Trifecta Therapy treatment.
- Bring a hat to wear on your way home from the office – sun protection is very important.
Trifecta Therapy is a true “Lunchtime Procedure.” The entire procedure takes less than an hour and may leave a temporary, barely noticeable red hue to the skin that goes away after a few hours. Results from the procedure are noticeable immediately and continue to improve with time as the skin thickens and regenerates.
On the day of Trifecta Therapy, the first step of the treatment is application of a numbing cream onto your face (or part of your body being treated) for 15-30 minutes. While the skin is undergoing numbing, a small amount of your blood is taken and processed to isolate the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).
After treatment with numbing cream is complete, the microneedling procedure is performed. The microneedling pen is gently passed over your skin to create microchannels. While the microneedling is being performed, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is immediately applied to the treated skin. This portion of the procedure has minimal discomfort and lasts only a few minutes. After completion of the microneedling and PRP, the treated skin is enriched with a liberal application of Stem Cell Growth Factor Serum. Both the PRP and Stem Cell Growth Factor Serum are clear on the skin and allowed to stay on for the remainder of the day.
After the Trifecta Therapy treatment, Dr. Gabbay and his staff will go over a customized post-procedure skin care regimen. You will be send home with a bottle of the Stem Cell Growth Factor Serum to be used daily as a vital component of Trifecta Therapy. There is minor redness of the skin after the procedure. Within a few hours, skin color returns to normal, but the skin quality is immediately improved, giving it a radiant glow.
Instructions After Trifecta Therapy
Immediately after your procedure, do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen, Motrin or Advil. These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for your skin rejuvenation. Follow these simple steps:
Day of Trifecta Therapy:
After Trifecta Therapy, it is important to protect your face from the sun. On the day of treatment, it is recommended to wear a hat when out in the sun. Do not use sun block on the first day of treatment. The Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell Growth Factor that were applied during the procedure should be left on and not washed away until bed time. At bed time, a gentle cleanser should be used to wash the face, and the Stem Cell Growth Factor Serum is reapplied.
On the day after treatment, you may clean your face and apply makeup, lotions and other topical products as usual. Stay away from exfoliants or glycolic acids that are present in skin cleaners, as these can make your skin very dry after the procedure. Be sure to use an approved SPF30 or greater sunscreen! Use the skin care products (including the Stem Cell Growth Factor Serum) given to you by Dr. Gabbay’s office.
Within two (2) days following your procedure, you may notice skin dryness and flaking. This is due to an increased turnover of skin cells. During this period, it is important to apply a good, hypoallergenic skin moisturizer. Follow the instructions given to you by Dr. Gabbay.
A week after the procedure, most patients notice that their skin is smoother and more radiant.
